1. Who are we?

Decisio.be is an independent information site that helps Belgium residents understand admin (taxation, energy, real estate, health, etc.). The site is run by a team based in Belgium. It is neither sponsored nor affiliated with any public or private institution.

2. What data we collect (and what we don't)

• Your first or last name, address, phone
• Your email address (unless you voluntarily write to us via the contact form)
• Your precise geolocation
• Your browsing habits outside the site (no cross-site tracking)
• No biometric, medical, personal financial or health data

📊 What we collect anonymously

• The quiz result in aggregate form, without the detail of your answers or any identifier linked to you (see section 3)
• Aggregated visit statistics (most viewed pages, browsers used) without tracking cookies
• Standard server logs kept temporarily (see section 6)

📨 What we collect if YOU choose to write to us

• The name and email you provide in the contact form
• The content of your message

This data is used solely to reply to you, and is never used for other purposes.

3. The quizzes: how it actually works

When you answer a quiz on Decisio.be (buying or renting, employee or self-employed, etc.), your answers stay in your browser and disappear when you close the page. Only an aggregate count of the result is stored, for statistical purposes only.

What we NEVER store with that result

• Your IP address
• No unique identifier (cookie, fingerprint, session)
• No browser data (user-agent, language, resolution)
• No reference to other quizzes you may have taken
• The detail of your answers, question by question

Result: it is technically impossible to trace a stored answer back to an identifiable person. Per Article 4 GDPR, this data is therefore not considered personal data.

Why we do this

• Improve our quizzes: see which questions are misunderstood, which make visitors drop off
• Improve our content: if 80% of Brussels residents still hesitate after the "buy or rent" quiz, we know we must clarify the corresponding article
• Draw useful conclusions about the trade-offs Belgians make when facing admin

Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6.1.f GDPR), namely the continuous improvement of a free information service. No consent required as no personal data is processed.

Retention period: aggregated statistics are kept indefinitely. As no personal data is attached, there is no purge obligation.

4. The contact form

If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email and message. This information reaches us by email at info@decisio.be.

• Purpose: only to reply to your request
• Legal basis: your consent (checkbox) + execution of a pre-contractual request (Articles 6.1.a and 6.1.b GDPR)
• Retention: emails are kept 12 months after the last exchange, then deleted
• Recipients: only the Decisio.be team. This data is never passed to third parties

5. Cookies & similar technologies

Decisio.be uses no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party cookies.

The site may occasionally use technical cookies strictly necessary for operation (for example, to remember your quiz choice during the session). These cookies are exempt from consent under Article 5.3 of the ePrivacy Directive.

We also do not use:

• Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other tracker
• Remarketing or retargeting tools
• Advertising networks
• Browser fingerprinting tools

6. Hosting & server logs

The site is hosted in Europe, which guarantees that your data stays within the European Economic Area and benefits fully from GDPR protection.

Like any web server, our host automatically generates technical logs containing:

• The connecting IP address
• Timestamp of the request
• The page requested
• The HTTP response code

These logs are used exclusively for security (attack detection, debugging) and are automatically deleted after 30 days. They are never cross-referenced with quiz answers or used for analytics purposes.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

GDPR guarantees you several rights over your personal data. Here is how they apply:

Rights applicable to contact form data

• Right of access: you can ask what data we have on you
• Right of rectification: you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Right to erasure: you can ask us to delete your message and contact details
• Right of objection: you can refuse processing of your data
• Right to portability: you can retrieve your data in a readable format

To exercise these rights, write to info@decisio.be. Reply within 30 days maximum.

About quiz answers

Your individual answers never leave your browser, and the aggregate result we store is linked to no identifier. It is therefore technically impossible for us to find your visit afterwards. This is precisely what guarantees your anonymity — but it also means we cannot return or delete "your" row.

Complaints

If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can contact the Data Protection Authority (DPA), the Belgian supervisory authority for GDPR.

8. Changes to this policy

If we modify this privacy policy, we update the date at the top of the page. For significant changes (new purpose, new data type), we will also indicate it visibly on the homepage for at least 30 days.
